Construction Measures at the Spreepark

Several heavy goods vehicles were needed to transport the 313 remaining components of the historic Ferris wheel to a suitable factory in Poland for refurbishment, where they will be expertly refurbished and later connected to the necessary new components so that the Ferris wheel can spin again in Spreepark in 2026.

The foundations and floor slab for the new office wing are currently being poured in the area of the future administrative building. 

The yellow and colourful cup carousel used to be the first eye-catcher at the main entrance to the Spreepark. The colourful cups have now been dismantled and stored safely. The foundations will now be drained and then dismantled so that the area can then be filled in and integrated into the future meadow landscape at the former main entrance. The cup carousel will be given a new location in an easily accessible place in the park.

As part of the media development work, underground pipes are currently being laid along the factory building, into which rainwater from the roof areas can later be channelled.

Following the demolition of the old security building, the site is being prepared for the construction of the new administrative building with its outdoor and storage areas. 

The dilapidated former Spreepark security building is being demolished to make way for the new construction of the so-called Wirtschaftshof, which will house administrative and staff rooms for the future park, among other things.

In preparation for the main construction work starting this year, further individual relics of the former leisure park will be stored or dismantled until spring for later refurbishment and transformation.

After around four years, the refurbishment of the popular "Eierhäuschen" restaurant in the Spreepark, which is over 100 years old, is largely complete. Preparations for operation are now underway inside. The complete ensemble with restaurant, beer garden and exhibition rooms will open in spring 2024.

Following the opening of the "Eierhäuschen" beer garden, another milestone has been reached for visitors and guests to Berlin with the successful construction of the pier at the Spreepark. Covering an area of 120 square metres, the landing stage is located along the banks of the Spree directly at the eastern main entrance to the Eierhäuschen and future Spreepark. The barrier-free construction, weighing almost 190 tonnes, is based on a robust steel supporting structure. The additionally installed steel sheet pile wall serves to separate the shallow water zone from the deep water area and was made entirely from recycled steel.

Construction work on the jetty at Spreepark has been successfully completed. Shipping companies that would like to include the new jetty in their timetable can now register on the Spreepark website at www.spreepark.berlin/en/planning-construction/jetty and book berthing options independently in future after successful registration. The first passenger ships are expected to be able to call at the new jetty from 1 August 2023. In the medium term, passenger ships from various shipping companies will be able to call at the jetty regularly to enable visitors to the Spreepark and the Eierhäusch to arrive and depart in a convenient and plannable manner. The landing stage can only be used for passenger shipping, i.e. the transport of passengers. The new landing stage is not available for private shipping. The pier is managed by Grün Berlin on behalf of the state of Berlin.
